When I sing, my vocal chords are more relaxed when I sing in a soft voice but when I try to sing louder, I can feel my vocal chords straining a bit. Also what are some good tips to helping my voice resonate more? Lastly, how should it feel when I sing? When I sing, it usually feels like my voice is coming from the back of my throat and I try to place my voice near the front of my mouth.

How can I stretch my voice (tenor, mainly trying to get higher) without hurting my vocal chords?
Thanks

By singing with the wrong technique ( with your throat) , how long would you say it would take to damage your vocal chords – min, hours, days, weeks, years, etc.?
How can you tell if you’ve damaged your voice? Is it apparent?

I need to use my throat voice for something I want to keep a secret. However, it does put a tremendous amount of strain on my vocal chords. What are some ways to prevent abusing them too much and perhaps heal what damage has been done? I’d prefer something other than switching to my chest voice, because I already know that that is probably the best healing method. For personal reasons, I can’t use it very well or often.

I quit smoking 7 months ago. I know it hurts your throat and vocal chords. I also know over time your lungs begin to heal some of the damage from it. But do vocal chords do the same?

I’m just curious, not planning or foreseeing this happening to me. But if your vocal chords totally die, or are removed, is it still possible to whisper? My wife believes that even whispers use vocal chord vibrations to an extant, but I think you can still produce discernible sound with only lip and tongue movement, and air. Both sound like reasonable answers, but which is true?

I’ve been singing in theater for about two years now. I just began vocal lessons several weeks ago.I didn’t learn how to properly sing until i began singing lessons. Could i have damaged my vocal chords? How long does it take to damage your vocal chords by singing improperly? Weeks? Months? Years? I’m 14, could it just be puberty effecting my singing voice? I know I’m throwing a lot of questions to you, but I’m just really worried about my voice.

I know that when you drink, the vocal chords don’t actually come into contact with the substance so after consuming a glass of water, how long does it take for that water to actually reach your vocal chords?
