What are piano chords and what is their purpose while playing a song?
I’m trying to the learn piano on my own (with the help of dear internet) and i got really messed up with the chords of the piano…-.-". For example, i noticed that on some music sheets, the name of a chord (A, F#M7, D..) is placed on top of each staff/bar. What does that mean? Plese someone help mehhhhhhhhh :’C……………….

chords provide the harmony to a song and provide the support to the melody. usually on the piano, you play the chords with the left hand and the melody with the right hand.
Chords are basically three notes in a key played together. They are played, for the most part, in the bass-line to harmonize with the melody. The chords are called the accompaniment and should be played softer that the melody.
An example of chords: The chords in C are the Tonic Chord (the notes C, E, and G played together) and the Dominant Seventh Chord or G7(the notes B F and G).
